I know his thing is not everyone's favorite and he catches a lot of (in my opinion undeserved) static from guitar players, but the guy has undeniable chops, is humble, funny and good-natured, oh and also a legendary gear-whore. It's long but fascinating just to hear the stories of the guitars and amps

Id love to go on one of his gear hunting expeditions--- he does seem like a cool guy to just hang out with though

and tbth -- if I could play as good as him---- id be a much happier man

neck thickness never bothered me "back in the day" --- now playing the BASEBALL BAT 50's style --- makes my arm hurt-- all the way to my shoulder and causes fingers to go numb-- Carpal Tunnel-- I'll take a collection for the surgery??????

OR I can just play average and thin necks and rock on :)

that said--- the THIN -- average and SUPER THIN bewitching is NOT an issue---I suck as equally on all widths lol

IMG_9592.JPG I like joe interviews. He is nerd cool and doesn't come off like the guy on stage. The half of hard on
John that interviewing him is bad at this job. He was not bad this time but he says cool for every thing.
Joe and I have a couple things in common, we both wear glasses and have values or tubes. Fender Amps and don't care about the gutters over flowing. Lookie at this, photo A.

I don't know why Joe gets beat up? I never was wild about his guitar show, I heard his playing and he could do better. I thought he was tapping Beth Heart, then I saw the tattoos on her and thought better Joe than me.
He seems pleasant and likable but I don't want him getting married to my sister if you know what I mean. I feel that the dude is light in the loafers.

Thought it funny his own "quip" about putting his name/face on anything.......and how CLOSE the JB strap locks are to beer bottle seals......
....he sees the humor.....AND THE PROFIT!!!!!
Perhaps my dislike of Joe is Fernegi jealousy????

I also really like what he says about neck thicknesses. It took me many years to fully realize that it's all mental, any neck size is equally playable if you don't psych yourself out about it and just adapt.

I choose not to "adapt" and instead chose three guitars with identical neck profiles. I find - for me - it adds an ingredient of effortlessness and familiarity to my playing that I really feel comfortable with.

I do share his affinity for Gibson guitars - the 24.75" scale in particular - and the fret-to-fret spacing inherent to that scale, which I have unconsciously become accustomed too, and the tone, the string feel, the resonant frequency of each note...its just like a well worn pair of gloves.

I am not sure why I find the Fender scale and skinny necks so foreign - but it's the same feeling I get from an acoustic guitar.

I'm also the anti-hoarder...a member of the immoral minority here it would see.

All the best to Joe B...

Joe is certainly a talented fellow. I cannot say that I subscribe to his point of view on things, or accept opinions on certain guitars or gear as a universal truth to be revered, but he deserves respect as an artist....

I don’t think there are universal truths, not with something so subjective at least. But I do listen when Joe B says somehing because at this point the guy probably has more practical experience with this stuff than anyone on Earth (ex. there are a lot of ‘burst “experts” out there, but how many of them actually take a couple on the road and play 100 nights a year with them?). So I learn what I can from the guy and apply what makes sense to what I am doing, and it might get me to try a new thing I hadn’t thought of.

I had my face on one weird thing after another. That doesn't mean I want to marry it. I just like feeling cheap.

I've never been able to take anything away from Joe. I think its more of a genre thing. In contrast, despite his love of Fenders, I have taken more away from John 5 discussions than anyone else in terms of knowledge and practical application...

Considering your knowledge base, I doubt Joe can shed much light....

I think Joe is down to earth. And like Jeorge Tripp's peddles Last night our band played out amp Dumble tweed Deluxe guitar 1960 LPS real main peddle used Way Huge Red Llama
All the songs we played were ones we never played on stage before it was big fun. And the only person that noticed the real Burst was the sound man.
