I need your advice!

I was going to make a completely 99% 1962 Strat out of parts I collected and saved over time. The thing was just for fun and make it as close to what you would have bought in 1962. The body will not be here ever and I am too old to fool people. I have a 1968 body and most all the stuff to do it but it will never be correct. What do I go with, painting it orange or fiesta red ? I can just leave the body a beat up toilet seat blues. I did play this guitar in different forms since I first came to America. Leave it looking like a bad rash or do the orange cream thing?

I was trying to take the easy way out. I have the rattle can or Puerto Ricin pencil on the rack and set. Orange has its place in Fender History and toilet seat blue doesn't the correct way is the way.

Since you are not trying to fool anyone as you said, all that matters is what you prefer. I would prefer a finished product with a nice paint job. As for the easy way out, it is not if you will regret failing to paint it every time you look at it

I like the battle-scarred blue, but (to echo RVA) you’re the one that should be happy with whatever the end result is.

It is a Fender and only heaven knows what is under the years of paint.

The bare spots look promising...I'm envisioning something like this, but maybe a bit lighter...



If I was going to go blue...I think I would go Pelham blue with clear...

That guitar has been so many colors and different pick ups. Different necks and played by so many people over time.

Thank you all for your points of view. I think I am going to finish the amp that took a poop and go back to working on my guitars. I probably will have a big sale and only take one guitar with me to Europe when I move there for good. I love America but Marie is not wanting America. She has spent enough time here. I have treated more gun shot wounds in our emergency rooms than in military zones. They take about the 27 club of dead rock stars. I have been looking at the 15 club too long. That seems to be the magic age here and over in Serbia.
